Dr. Michael E. Berend is a fellowship-trained, board-certified, orthopedic surgeon. He has interests in total hip and total knee replacement, mobile bearing partial knee replacement, and primary and revision joint replacement surgery.
Dr. Berend has helped design many hip, knee, and partial knee implant systems. He is a thought leader total joint replacement research and has trained over 3,000 surgeons in the latest surgical techniques of partial knee replacements. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles in medical journals such as:
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery
Journal of Arthroplasty
Journal of Pediatric Surgery
Foot and Ankle International
Lasers in Orthopedics
Sabistons Textbook of Surgery.
In addition, he has also presented research papers at notable national and international orthopedic symposia.
He is one of approximately 50 members of both the Knee Society and the Hip Society. He serves on the board of the American Association for Hip and Knee Surgeons where he has served as the annual meeting program chairman. He travels internationally with Operation Walk, a Christian medical mission organization performing free joint replacements around the world.
Dr. Berend has pioneered many surgical techniques, an orthopaedic patent, and strives for excellence in orthopaedic care including compassion, communication and clinical excellence.
