Dr. Rao is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and echocardiography and is board certified in nuclear cardiology. He has a special interest in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, congestive heart failure and cardiovascular research.
Additionally, Dr. Rao has been awarded recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance Heart Recognition Program. Clinicians who achieve the Heart Recognition Program show their peers, patients and others in the heart/vascular community that they are part of an elite group that is publicly recognized for its skill in providing the highest-level heart and vascular care.

Dr. Rao is a Fellow of the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) the first and only cardiologist to receive such recognition in Indiana.
The Fellowship designation is based on outstanding credentials, achievements, and contributions to heart failure clinical practice, research, publications, and educational expertise. HFSA promotes research related to all aspects of heart failure and provides a forum for presentation of basic, clinical and population-based research.
