The Cancer Support Book Club offers camaraderie and conversation to those affected by blood cancers. This group is open to any blood cancer patient, their caregiver or family member.Participants choose and read books written by cancer survivors, or those who have passed. Groups will decide which books they want to read and books are given free of charge to all participating.
Participants are asked to commit time to the reading group, as this club largely depends on participant involvement. It meets the third Thursday of every month from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Karen Bettner, CSW, ACSW, will facilitate the group and offer medical and emotional feedback. Co-sponsored by the Indiana Blood & Marrow Transplantation (IBMT) unit at Franciscan Health Indianapolis and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
To register, call Karen Bettner, IBMT at (317) 528-7351, for a required brief interview prior to starting the club and information about reading material.
