Gestational Diabetes counseling is offered to pregnant women who develop diabetes during their pregnancy. The goal is to help the woman have a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby. Gestational diabetes is high blood sugar (diabetes) that starts or is first diagnosed during pregnancy, many times without symptoms. Pregnancy hormones can block insulin from doing its job. When this happens, glucose levels may increase in a pregnant womans blood. Nutrition management and blood glucose monitoring are very important components of this program.

• Understanding and managing gestational diabetes
• Nutrition and managing blood sugars
