Postpartum depression/anxiety is the No. 1 complication of having a baby. But don’t let this common, treatable condition rob you of this special time in your family’s life. There is no single cause or reason a woman has postpartum depression/anxiety. Postpartum depression/anxiety results from a combination of biologic, hormonal, environmental and psychological factors. By getting help, moms tend to feel better faster. Additionally, perinatal mood disorders can occur even up to one year after giving birth.
Intended for mothers who have recently delivered, and experiencing depression or other emotional issues related to their pregnancy or first-time caregivers supporting a new baby.
This free support group meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 11 a.m. to noon (support group will not meet on holidays, July or November). Call (317) 783-8383 to register. Facilitated by Jan Link, LCSW, LCAC, with Franciscan Behavioral Health Services.
