Yoga is a mind-body therapy that connects the body, breath and mind to energize and balance the whole person. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises and meditation to improve overall well-being. Yoga utilitzes breathing lessons, different postures and meditation. The many benefits include lower blood pressure, relaxation, reduced stress and anxiety, increased flexibility, posture and many more. It is often suggested by doctors to reduce stress in people with high blood pressure and heart disease, and to improve flexibility in people with arthritis.
Medical Therapeutic Yoga is safe, evidence-based yoga teaching breathwork, movement, mindfulness and self-care to improve health and wellness. All levels of yoga welcome, so bring your yoga mat!
Cost is $10 for single session; $80 for a 10-session pass; Payment for classes may be made out by check, to Franciscan Health. Credit cards not accepted.
Our instructor Laura Fikes spent most of her career as an occupational therapist. She obtained her Professional Yoga Therapist Level 1 Certification from the Professional Yoga Therapy Institute.
