Franciscan Health Brings Services Back To Legacy Hospital In Michigan City
MICHIGAN CITY, Indiana - The former Franciscan Health Michigan City hospital location will enter its next phase of healthcare service to the community when it opens as Franciscan ExpressCare Michigan City North on July 8, 2019. Fr. George Schopp, chaplain at Franciscan Health Michigan City, presided over a blessing on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, to celebrate the transition.
"This blessing and open house represent a fulfillment of promises made to the city of Michigan City, promises made to this community," said Franciscan Health Michigan City President and CEO Dean Mazzoni (pictured above). "Residents in the north end of town will continue to have access to quality, affordable healthcare within walking distance."
Chris DiGiusto, Franciscan Alliance vice president of ambulatory services, called the ExpressCare opening "a great way to continue to participate in one of our legacy facilities."
The Franciscan ExpressCare Michigan City North will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Its location is in what was the Emergency Department area of the old hospital.
The new location will be the second in Michigan City, joining the ExpressCare and WorkingWell location on the south side of the city at 4111 South Franklin Street.
