Franciscan Health Foundation Helps Solve Jasper County Transportation Need
RENSSELAER, Indiana - The Franciscan Health Foundation offers support to a variety of areas within and surrounding Franciscan Health. Jasper County Community Services Inc. needed to purchase a transport provider that was wheelchair accessible, and the Franciscan Health Foundation helped to make that happen.
On Monday, August 26, Sandra Howarth, executive director of Franciscan Health Foundation Western Indiana and Carlos Vasquez, vice president and chief operating officer of Franciscan Health Rensselaer, presented a $5,000 check to Sharon Colee, the executive director of Jasper County Community Services, Inc. for the purchase of the van.
"The Franciscan Health Foundation answered the call when Jasper County Community Services, Inc. needed the final matching funds to reach its goal in attaining a new ADA minivan for wheelchair transportation," said Vasquez. "The lack of ADA wheelchair transportation in Jasper County, coupled with having no non-emergency medical transportation, made this an imperative need for residents to make it to and from medical appointments. We join the community in our gratitude to the Franciscan Health Foundation for partnering with the local community services organization to assist and improve the health of our community."
