LAFAYETTE, Indiana - Franciscan Heath Lafayette East offers drive-through COVID-19 testing. The testing site is located at the parking lot near the hospital’s South Entrance, 1701 South Creasy Lane. Testing for flu, strep and RSV are also offered at the COVID-19 test site.
Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday, and Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Patients MUST have a physician order and MUST pre-register to receive an appointment time by calling (765) 423-6170. The patient's physician will provide the hospital with the order prior to the patient arriving for their appointment to receive the test.
PLEASE NOTE: Physicians DO NOT need to be part of Franciscan Physician Network to provide test orders to the hospital. Similarly, patients also DO NOT need to be Franciscan Physician Network patients in order to have the COVID-19 test completed at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
To minimize unnecessary exposure, testing will be completed in the patient's car. All vehicle occupants must be masked.
After testing, patients will be sent home to treat their symptoms. COVID-19 is a viral illness, and treatment is rest, drinking fluids and medication that reduces fever. You can protect yourself from transmission of the virus by washing your hands often, avoiding close contact with others, staying home if sick, covering coughs and sneezes and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces daily. If you develop severe illness (i.e. trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion or inability to arouse, bluish lips or face), you should seek additional care.
The patient's physician will notify them with test results.
For those seeking information, we request that they not call the Emergency Department, since it takes resources away from treating our patients. Instead, please reach out to your physician's office. A free online COVID-19 risk assessment tool is also available at franciscanhealth.org/covidaware.
