Franciscan Health Maternal/Fetal Medicine Expert Establishes Practice in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, Indiana - Walter G. Harry, MD, has joined Franciscan Health Maternal Fetal Medicine & Genetics.
In that role, Dr. Harry provides consultation regarding the care of pregnant women with a variety of high-risk maternal conditions, including heart and kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune disorders and personal or family history of a genetic disorder. He also treats potential pregnancy-related complications related to pre-term labor, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.
Dr. Harry also provides consultation on fetal conditions such as growth restriction, chromosomal abnormalities, genetic diseases, birth defects and congenital infections.
Board-certified in maternal fetal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology, he most previously worked in a similar capacity at Indianapolis-area hospitals. Dr. Harry is a member of Franciscan Physician Network.
Dr. Harry received his undergraduate degree in human nutrition at Texas A&M University and earned his medical degree with honors at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
He completed a categorical internship in general surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He then served as a general medical officer in the U.S. Army at Hanau Health Clinic in Germany.
After the completion of his military service, Dr. Harry completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He then completed a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at the University of Arizona.
He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
