She has presented posters and spoke at the National Oncology Nursing Society on the work Franciscan Health has done for promoting colon health using the inflatable colon. This year Askren has arranged for a free Oncology Certification Review Course at Franciscan Health in Lafayette. This will bring 40 nurses from across the United States to Franciscan Health. Askren enjoys working and developing new ways to educate the community on cancer. She loves to work on projects that can improve the life of the cancer patient and the nursing staff who care for them.
