Franciscan Physician Network OBGYN Physician in Lafayette Set to Retire
LAFAYETTE, Indiana - Thomas Downey, MD, an OBGYN with Franciscan Physician Network Obstetrics & Gynecology, will retire from the group on July 31, 2017, after 37 years of service to the Greater Lafayette medical community.
Dr. Downey has practiced in the Greater Lafayette area since 1980. During his time, he estimates that he has helped deliver more than 7,000 babies.
One of the highlights during his 37 years of service has been helping families through the years.
"I've enjoyed following my patients and their families over the years, watching the babies I delivered grow up, and in some cases, delivering their babies," said Dr. Downey. "I will miss the patients and co-workers that I have come to feel are like family. Thank you for allowing me to participate in your medical care all these years."
Dr. Downey looks forward to spending more time with his family and bicycling.
Dr. Downey received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Downey is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Indiana Medical Association. Dr. Downey also serves as an OBGYN consultant with Riggs Community Health Center.
