Little Hats, Big Hearts
Chicago Heights, Illinois - Franciscan Health Chicago Heights is celebrating heart month with the American Heart Association and the Children's Heart Foundation by giving soft, warm knitted or crocheted red hats to 100 babies born at the Lullaby Birthplace in February. The red hats are made by volunteers from around the country as part of the Little Hats, Big Hearts™ program.
Little Hats, Big Hearts™ honors babies, moms, and heart healthy lives in a very special way. It began in Chicago in February 2014, and has expanded to more than 40 states in three years. Now, volunteers are knitting and crocheting red hats to be given to thousands of babies in 40 states during American Heart Month in order to empower moms to live heart healthy lives and to help their children do the same.
"Together, we are working to raise awareness, provide resources and inspire moms to take their family's heart health to heart while also raising awareness about congenital heart defects,” said Pauline Jacobs, Lullaby Birthplace Manager of Maternity Services.
