INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Ashley B. Turkowski, JD, MHA, has been appointed Legal Counsel for Franciscan Health Central Indiana, effective April 1.
In that role, she is responsible for legal and regulatory oversight of three hospitals (Indianapolis, Mooresville and Carmel), provides counsel to leadership and staff regarding legal matters, and ensures compliance with federal and state health care laws and legislation.
Turkowski, who succeeds Pamela Jones, most recently served as Legal Counsel to Franciscan Health Western Indiana with hospitals in Lafayette, Crawfordsville and Rensselaer. She had served on staff there since December 2017. Previous to that, she was staff attorney for Franciscan Alliance.
Before her affiliation with Franciscan Health, she was a law clerk in the General Counsel Office for the Department of Veterans Affairs in St. Louis. She also served as a law clerk to the Midwest Chief Legal Officer for Adventist Health System in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Turkowski, who is a member of the state bars in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri, received her undergraduate degree in political science from Saint Norbert College in Wisconsin. She earned her juris doctorate (with a certificate of health law) and graduate degree in health administration from Saint Louis University.
A Chicago native, she was an honors student and active in a variety of law school activities.
