A New Nursery at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is Taking Shape
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois - The new nursery is taking shape in Olympia Fields. The second floor of the new patient pavilion at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields will be home to a new birthing center, to be renamed the Franciscan Health Family Birth Center once opened in its new location. The rooms have been walled in and finishing touches such as paint, tiling and flooring are being completed.
New equipment and beds, including a state-of-the-art cardiac respiratory monitoring system and a central monitoring system, have been purchased. Pod-like areas will afford greater privacy for parents visiting their babies.
Obstetric patients arriving for their fetal well-being checks (non-stress test) will benefit from the convenience and time savings afforded by the addition of two dedicated ultrasound rooms, which are not intended for gynecologic patients.
Also on the second floor, a perinatology clinic serving high-risk obstetric patients will be located opposite the Franciscan Health Family Birth Center. As a result, these patients will need only to walk across the hall for testing.
- Patients and staff will appreciate the improved flow and visual appeal of this new, updated area.
- The Emergency Department at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields will no longer have to transport obstetrics patients to the Franciscan Health Chicago Heights.
The anticipated move-in date is August 29, 2018. This date is contingent upon approval by the Illinois Department of Public Health and subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, please call (708) 756-1000, ext. 56400.
