DYER, Indiana - As part of a regional effort to support local healthcare workers, a group of members from Bethel Church gathered outside of Franciscan Health Dyer on May 26, 2020, to deliver a brief prayer service.
Church members wore masks and practiced social distancing as they delivered the prayers to express their love, support and appreciation for the health care workers at Franciscan Health Dyer for their dedication and bravery in the fight against COVID-19.
Bethel Church Pastor Mark Culton said, "It was pretty powerful, we had 11 or so healthcare workers come out. Some doctors, nurses, just different people that wanted prayer. There was a real longing for spiritual encouragement here."
"It's a great privilege, but a small thing that I'm doing. They're serving every day on the front lines," Pastor Culton added. "There is a real weightiness that they all feel, healthcare workers, because of the weight that they bear on a daily basis."
The event was part of Pray for the Region, a partnership between numerous churches and Christian denominations from the Calumet Region. It is intended to provide another avenue of care for those seeking personalized prayer. For more information or to submit a prayer request, visit PrayForTheRegion.org.
