Reconfigured ICU At Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Will Enhance Patient And Staff Experience
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois - Changes being implemented in the Franciscan Health Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Olympia Fields will increase the department's overall size from 10 to 16 beds. It current linear configuration will be transformed into a square space with a centrally-located station that gives doctors and nurses a full view of the expanded patient rooms. The six new beds will be part of a state-of-the-art cardiovascular universal bed (CUB) area.
The ICU staff is especially excited about the larger patient rooms, as well as a newly added patient shower that will mainly benefit patients who remain in the ICU from pre-surgery through recovery.
The waiting area will move to the opposite side of the ICU. The current ICU waiting room area will become a larger, more attractive private break room/multi-purpose room.
- The new CUB rooms will comfortably accommodate specialized equipment, nursing supplies and visiting family members.
- The ICU's increased size and improved configuration will allow for greater flexibility with patient placement and enhance the staff's ability to perform their jobs.
The target move-in date is August 3.
