Two Very Special Deliveries At Franciscan Health
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois - When the consolidation of Franciscan Health Chicago Heights into Franciscan Health Olympia Fields was complete on Thursday, September 6, the Lullaby Birthplace in Chicago Heights was closed, and replaced by the new Franciscan Health Family Birth Center in Olympia Fields.
To mark this milestone, Franciscan Health is celebrating the last baby born at the Lullaby Birthplace in Chicago Heights and the first baby born at Franciscan Health Family Birth Center in Olympia Fields.
On September 6 at 8:31 p.m., Mason Jones had the distinction of being the last baby to be born in the Lullaby Birthplace at the Chicago Heights campus. Weighing 7 lbs., 10 oz. and 19 inches long, Mason is the son of Christopher and Kellie Jones of South Holland, Illinois.
Bryan Franco was welcomed into the world on September 10 at 8:32 a.m. Little Bryan, the first baby to be born at the all-new Franciscan Health Family Birth Center, weighed 8 lbs., 6 oz. and measured 19 inches. Proud parents, Juan Carlos Franco and Luz Reyes reside in South Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Franciscan extends heartfelt congratulations to the families of Mason and Bryan on their new arrivals.
The Franciscan Family Birth Center is located on the second floor of the new patient pavilion in Olympia Fields. Convenience and comfort are the hallmarks of this nurturing environment, with state-of-the-art equipment featuring the latest technologies.
"We previously offered similar services, but the new Family Birth Center is organized to deliver patient care in a more efficient, convenient and comfortable manner," said Dexter Arrington, MD, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. "It's a truly nurturing environment for new moms and families."
Every patient room at the Family Birth Center is private. Mother and Baby Suites are wheelchair accessible with large, walk-in showers. Each suite is equipped with a recliner to comfortably accommodate a support person to stay overnight. Franciscan Health also serves new mothers a celebration meal with their choice of a vegetarian, steak or seafood entrée with cake and sparkling grape juice.
The Family Birth Center also includes an expanded special care nursery, which is designated a Level II with extended capabilities, including a central monitoring system and state-of-the-art cardiac respiratory monitoring system.
From prenatal visits and throughout the entire birthing experience, the new Franciscan Health Family Birth Center in Olympia Fields offers an improved experience for new Southland mothers and their families.
