Limelight photorejuvenation is a non-invasive, targeted form of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) used to treat many issues of the skin including:
- Sun spots (hyperpigmentation)
- Small superficial veins (telangiectasias)
What Areas Of The Body Can Be Treated With Limelight?
Limelight works well on your face, neck, and décolletage (chest).
How Does Limelight Work?
The hyperpigmented cells and hemoglobin absorb various wavelengths of light. The light is used to break down the melanin within the cell and to coagulate the hemoglobin. The heat is then moved through to the vessel wall and destroyed.
What Does A Limelight Treatment Feel Like?
Many patients describe Limelight as feeling like a quick pinch or rubber band snapping very quickly. As with most IPL treatments, there may be some discomfort. The Limelight handpiece can be used to cool the area before and after treatment to help minimize discomfort.
When Will I See Results From A Limelight Treatment?
Results depend on many factors including your skin type, previous sun exposure, future sun exposure, and medical history. You can expect to see some improvement after one treatment, with best results after three.
What Can I Expect After A Limelight Facial™?
After receiving a Limelight Facial™, you may initially experience darkening of your hyperpigmentation. Surrounding tissue may appear slightly red and feel more sensitive. Any discomfort usually subsides after a couple hours. The darkened areas will have a "coffee ground" look and will typically flake off after about 7-14 days.
Down time differs as well as number of treatments required by patient. Depending on how deep the melanin is into the skin, they may see significant results even after one treatment. Others may require a series of three Limelight treatments to achieve a similar result. Usually this is a patient with years of sun exposure and little to no skincare regime involving SPF.
This treatment is very popular in the colder months due to less risk of sun exposure.
