MERRILLVILLE, Indiana - Some 150 bowlers raised nearly $14,000 recently at Stardust Bowl in Merrillville for the Franciscan Health St. Clare Health Clinic in Crown Point and the Franciscan Health Patient Assistance Fund.

Rick Peltier, executive director of the Franciscan Health Foundation, said, "We are grateful for the support of the sponsors and all of the bowlers for this event, which benefits the working poor of our area."

The event featured competitive bowling for trophies as well as a "crazy bowl." Participants enjoyed food underwritten by Extended Care Clinical, LLC, based in Evanston, Illinois, and cake donated by Beck's Crown Bakery in Crown Point. In addition, participants were able to compete for prizes in a raffle sponsored by the Merrillville Rotary Club.
