LAFAYETTE, Indiana - Franciscan Health has recently announced the three recipients for the Fall 2018 Healing Hands Awards in Western Indiana.

Salim Abou Jaoude, MD, a pulmonologist with Franciscan Physician Network, Keith March, MD, an urgent care physician with Franciscan Physician Network, and Joel Parker, MD, an emergency department physician with Envision Physician Services are the Fall 2018 recipients of the Franciscan Health Healing Hands Award.

Franciscan Health is blessed to have many wonderful physicians. The Healing Hands Award is presented twice a year to physicians on the Franciscan Health medical staff in Franciscan Health's Central and Western Indiana divisions. Physician nominees should exemplify our Franciscan values (Respect for Life, Fidelity to our Mission, Compassionate Concern, Joyful Service and Christian Stewardship).

Dr. Abou Jaoude's nomination commented that Dr. Abou Jaoude is very empathetic and approachable, shows respect and kindness, and exemplifies the Franciscan values. Dr. Abou Jaoude's passion for his work, compassion for his patients, and his expectations of excellence from staff are inspiring to those around him.

Dr. Abou Jaoude received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his residency in critical care medicine from Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Abou Jaoude is board certified in critical care medicine, pulmonary disease, and sleep medicine and provides care and services at Franciscan sites in Lafayette and Crawfordsville.

Dr. March's nomination commented that Dr. March demonstrates compassion and kindness with every interaction being a positive experience. Dr. March spends time with patients to ensure they understand their plan of care including taking the time to speak directly with patients over the phone when they have questions.

Dr. March received his medical degree from the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He completed his family medicine residency at the Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dr. March is board certified in family medicine and provides care at the Franciscan ExpressCare in West Lafayette.

Dr. Parker's nomination was provided by a fellow physician colleague who commented that Dr. Parker is very encouraging to patients while providing great continuity of care. Dr. Parker is a compassionate and caring physician who is very deserving of the Healing Hands Award.

Dr. Parker received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his residency in emergency medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Parker is board certified in emergency medicine and provides care and services in the emergency departments at Franciscan Health in Lafayette and Crawfordsville.
