Franciscan Health Crawfordsville Places Local Artwork In New CT Scan Room
2/28/2017
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana - When Nancy Sayler, radiology director for Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, was trying to find artwork to hang in the new CT scan room, she asked for ideas from people. She couldn't find anything in stores or catalogs that spoke to her. She was told to try Athens Arts Gallery at 113 North Washington Street in downtown Crawfordsville. There, Nancy found a great series of local images and purchased them for the hospital.
The artwork she picked was a series of photos under the group title “Reflections … as seen by windel w. asher” by local art photographer Kenn Clark. Kenn has been working on Reflections since 2005/2006. The ones now residing in the CT room are from the past year.
"Each one is one shot. You can walk down the street and see it off the building windows. That's what I like about it. It's all positioning. As you move, the reflection moves," said Kenn. "They tend to make people slow down and not rush through it."
Kenn also shared that a lot of people also put their own personal twist to his photos. Some have sentimental reasons – such as they spent a lot of time at a certain business growing up or working at that business or cherish the memory because the location is gone. Kenn also appreciates that his artwork is hanging in the local hospital.
Sometimes you'll see Kenn walking around town with a camera looking for different angles and new topics to take photos. "It's been fun. The more you look at them, the more you see." said Kenn. "It's nice when people see things in them that I didn't originally see."
