Franciscan Health Dyer Recognizes Daisy Award Recipient In January 2021

DYER, Indiana - Franciscan Health Dyer has named Med/Surg IMCU nurse Evelyn Gere, RN, as its DAISY Award recipient for January 2021, given to recognize nurses who provide extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care.

A surgical patient nominated Gere, writing, "The care that Evie provided me was exceptional. She was my guardian angel in my Mom's absence and played a significant role in my recovery - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Evie made a difference in my life and I will always hold a special place in my heart for her.

"Evie was amazing, and I want her outstanding bedside manner to be acknowledged. You truly have a GEM in Evie who shines bright!"

Along with a certificate, Gere was presented with a Healer's Touch sculpture. The DAISY Foundation was inspired by nurses' treatment of Patrick Barnes, who died of complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura at the age of 33. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.
