Franciscan Health Grant Boosts Beech Grove Police Patrol Efforts

BEECH GROVE, Indiana - Neighborhoods in this southside town of 15,000 are a little bit safer as local police officers now patrol on electronic bikes.

A pair of bikes were recently donated as part of Comprehensive Drug Free-Neighborhood Watch initiative. This supports greater coverage and mobility along the Franciscan Trail, a 2.5-mile greenway route that begins on the site of the former Franciscan Health Beech Grove hospital and runs through the city and its parks system.

The donation was made possible by a grant from the Franciscan Health Social Impact Partnership Program (SIPP). The program support health care-related programs for non-profit, health and human service organizations in at-risk communities. 

"SIPP serves populations most in need, and in accordance with Franciscan's mission, should be the focus of supported activities," said Kate Hill-Johnson, administrative director of community health improvement "We are proud to partner with Beech Grove on this much-needed project."

The Franciscan Health SIPP initiative was launched in spring 2021.
