Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Recognizes Daisy Award Recipient In January 2021
1/22/2021
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois - Franciscan Health Olympia Fields recognized Jennifer Eckert, RN, as its first Daisy Award recipient of 2021.
A six-year registered nurse serving in the hospital's Telemetry Unit, Eckert was nominated by a former grateful patient. That patient described the Manhattan, Illinois, resident as an amazing nurse and caregiver.
"I made it on the hospital unit at about 7:00 a.m. and then I met a very honest, loyal, hard worker. She made an immediate contact. The communication, and well caring skills that come with her talent is very appreciated," the patient said. "She’s more than just a RN, she cares."
The patient was impressed with Eckert's clinical expertise, as well as her compassion.
"Knowing that she had many patients, she still made my day," the patient added. "She knows her stuff, medicine, friendly and very supportive. She’s the real deal. I'm so grateful that she was my nurse.
Jennifer dedicated her time thoroughly and made my stay so pleasurable. Just a kind word is mostly all I needed and provided that. She’s one in a million."
Franciscan Health recognizes the contributions of nurses through the DAISY Awards all year long. It salutes nurses like Eckert who deliver extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care. As part of this recognition, Eckert received a DAISY award pin, the Healer's Touch sculpture, a DAISY Award certificate and a box of Cinnabon cinnamon rolls to share with coworkers. Funding for the DAISY Award is provided by the Franciscan Health Foundation.
