Franciscan Physician Network Welcomes New Certified Nurse Midwife in Crawfordsville

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana - Franciscan Physician Network Obstetrics & Gynecology Crawfordsville is proud to welcome Carie A. Mondero, CNM, to Montgomery County.
Mondero is a certified nurse midwife. She has worked as a certified nurse midwife in clinic settings, as well as a staff nurse in various area hospitals' obstetrics and neonatal intensive care units.
Mondero joins the Franciscan Physician Network Obstetrics & Gynecology office in Crawfordsville with Jon M. Hoversland, MD, OB/GYN; Scott Sinnott, MD, OB/GYN; and Katie Towles, MD, OB/GYN.
As a certified nurse midwife, Mondero can provide primary healthcare services for women from adolescence beyond menopause. These services include primary care, gynecologic services, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, care of the normal newborn during the first 28 days of life. Midwives provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment. They conduct physical examinations; prescribe medications including controlled substances; admit, manage and discharge patients; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and order the use of medical devices. Midwifery care also includes health promotion, disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling.
Mondero received her nursing degree from Purdue University and her master's degree in nursing, with a nurse-midwifery concentration from the University of Indianapolis. She is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and is also licensed as an advanced practice nurse.
