Hands Down Winner Franciscan Doctor In Indianapolis Is Choice For Healing Hands Award
9/14/2017
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – A long-time family medicine physician has been recognized for his professionalism and compassionate care he delivers to his patients.
Richard Rejer, MD, is the recipient of the first quarter 2017 Healing Hands Award. He is a member of Franciscan Physician Network Southeast Family Medicine.
With his colleagues and family present, Dr. Rejer recently accepted the award, which recognizes physicians for excellence in clinical skills, patient relations, research, stewardship and their reflection of Franciscan Health's healthcare ministry, values and mission.
Several patients nominated Dr. Rejer for the Healing Hands Award and included anecdotes about their experiences. One patient noted: "He is compassionate, shows empathy and manages to put a smile on my face…"
Another patient described him as a "wonderful diagnostician and a patient and sensitive caregiver who never makes us feel rushed."
None of these qualities necessarily come as a surprise to his colleagues, including Christopher Doehring, MD, vice president of medical affairs for Franciscan Health.
"Since his days in residency to his current position as a family doctor and residency teacher, Dr. Rejer has exemplified the mission of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration," said Dr. Doehring. "His genuine concern and easygoing nature make him a favorite with patients."
Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Rejer earned his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Franciscan Health.
