High Tea Benefits Mothers And Children In Northwest Indiana

CROWN POINT, Indiana - More than 100 guests attended a Fourth Annual Franciscan Health Tea at the Marian Education Center at Franciscan Health Crown Point April 30.

The program was conducted to support Franciscan Health St. Monica Home Dyer and the Prenatal Assistance Program at Franciscan Health St. Clare Health Clinic Crown Point. Guests were treated to a High Tea with cucumber sandwiches, egg salad croissants, chocolate-covered strawberries and other delights. This year's theme highlighted the special bond between mothers and daughters. Many guests brought their daughters and the duos wore matching hats. In addition, guests brought baby shower gifts to benefit the moms and babies in the two programs.

The event was co-chaired once again by Shar Miller (pictured above, left) and Carol Highsmith, both members of the Franciscan Health Northwest Indiana Division Board.

TaShena Melton, manager of St. Monica Home, and Jamie Donsbach, manager of the prenatal program, shared their gratitude with the audience and talked about how the support affects the mothers and children who participate in the programs.

St. Monica Home, located on the campus of Franciscan Health Dyer, offers a medically sound and emotionally healthy environment for a pregnant teens awaiting the birth of a child. baby. Residents learn to foster positive relationships and parenting skills under the guidance of experienced and encouraging resident advisers through educational programs, counseling sessions and prenatal services. Residents also have continuing educational opportunities.

The Prenatal Assistance Program offers free pregnancy assistance to low-income families that allows them access to healthcare and public assistance.
