Jerry Jefson, MD, FACS, Honored With Healing Hands Award

LAFAYETTE, Indiana - Franciscan Health Western Indiana has recently announced Jerry Jefson, MD, FACS as a recipient of the Spring 2018 Healing Hands Awards.

Jerry Jefson, MD, FACS, a general surgeon with Lafayette Surgical Clinic, a Unity Healthcare partner, is the Spring 2018 Outpatient Physician recipient of the Franciscan Health Healing Hands Award in Western Indiana. Dr. Jefson is an independent physician who chooses to practice at Franciscan Health.

Franciscan Health is blessed to have many wonderful physicians. The Healing Hands Award is presented twice a year to two physicians on the Franciscan Health medical staff. Physician nominees should exemplify our Franciscan values (Respect for Life, Fidelity to our Mission, Compassionate Concern, Joyful Service and Christian Stewardship).

Dr. Jefson’s nomination commented about his commitment to clinical excellence and patient care. “Dr. Jefson’s faith-filled respect, care and clinical excellence shown towards our patients, our staff and our community is truly amazing. His selfless love of the mission he has chosen is apparent regardless of his workload in the course of caring for others.”

Dr. Jefson received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center and St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Jefson is a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, Tippecanoe County Medical Association and the Christian Medical and Dental Associations.
