Montgomery County Free Clinic Inc. Makes Large Donation to Crawfordsville Facilities

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana - Franciscan Health Crawfordsville’s Marie Canine Cancer Center and Franciscan Health Foundation received a $20,000 donation from the Montgomery County Free Clinic Inc.

The donation will help the cancer center purchase a new IGRT Couch Top carbon fiber board for use with patients receiving cancer treatments. The board costs about $28,000. Franciscan Health Foundation has received additional donations throughout the past several years for this item and will use those funds to cover the full price of the carbon fiber board.

The IGRT Couch top is designed for ultra-precise imaging and patient positioning manufactured from robust carbon fiber. The couch top is free of metal or other obstructions that can obscure the imaging process.
Carbon fiber board benefits include:

• Provide easy and effective reproduction of patient set-up
• Enhance patient comfort
• No obstructions in imaging process – making precise duplicated positioning much easier and faster for therapist.

“We are excited to make this donation to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville’s Marie Canine Cancer Center,” said Debbie Schavietello, one of the founders of Faith Alliance and a board member of Montgomery County Free Clinic Inc. “We have worked in the past with the hospital and staff members in making sure women in Montgomery County have access to screenings, treatment and more. We are excited to help meet this need.”

The funds came from numerous fundraisers, including Bras for a Cause – Flock Breast Cancer, The Pink Tie Gala and AMS Oil Ironman 2016.“The staff and patients are thankful for this donation from Montgomery County Free Clinic Inc. and the various individuals who made those events happen,” said Kathleen Nelson, manager of Franciscan Health Crawfordsville’s Marie Canine Cancer Center. “This will help make treatments more comfortable for patients.”
