INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Six students are poised to become graduates of the Franciscan Health Clinical Laboratory Science Program.

The students, will graduate in a special ceremony Friday, May 14, 2021, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. The 2021 graduates and specialty field majors are:

  • Nicholas Braun. Purdue University (BS, Medical Laboratory Science, 2021). Parent Lisa Braun of Fort Wayne, Indiana
  • Emma Connell. Purdue University (BS, Medical Laboratory Science, 2021). Parents Steve and Ruth Connell of Fishers, Indiana
  • Ashley Conyers. University of Indianapolis. (BS, Medical Laboratory Science, 2021). Parents Michael and Tracey Conyers of Kokomo, Indiana
  • Mikayle DeRosa. Indiana State University. (BS, Biology with a specialization in MLS, 2021). Parents Todd and Andrea DeRosa of Chatham, Illinois
  • Krista Gruber. Ball State University. (BS, Medical Technology, 2021). Parents James and Melissa Gruber of Wanatah, Indiana
  • Valerie Rospopo. Purdue University. (BS, Medical Laboratory Science, 2021). Parents Richard and Christy Rospopo of Argos, Indiana

The 10-month program - a division of the hospital’s clinical laboratory - was established in 1967 and is dedicated to preparing professional medical technologists with the theoretical and practical training to serve as active members of the health care team in clinical laboratory science.

The Franciscan Health Clinical Laboratory Program is affiliated with several colleges and universities across the Midwest and is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

Medical technology involves conducting a wide range of laboratory tests for the detection, diagnosis, treatment and study of diseases. Clinical laboratory scientists work closely with pathologists and other specialists to ensure the accuracy of diagnoses.
