The Franciscan Dyer EMS Academy provides comprehensive Emergency Medical Services education for students entering the EMS profession and certified EMTs seeking advanced training. Our nationally aligned EMT and Advanced EMT programs combine classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, clinical experiences, and professional mentorship to prepare students for National Registry certification and successful careers in prehospital healthcare.Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
The EMT program prepares students to become National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians and provides
the essential knowledge and skills needed to deliver safe, effective prehospital patient care.
Program Highlights:
- Approximately 16 weeks in length
- 160+ classroom hours
- 48 clinical hours
- National Registry EMT preparation

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)
The Advanced EMT program is designed for currently certified EMTs seeking to expand their clinical knowledge and scope of practice through advanced education and patient care experiences.
Program Highlights:
- Approximately 16 weeks in length
- 160+ classroom hours
- 90 clinical hours
- Hybrid format with online coursework and four mandatory in-person skills sessions
- National Registry AEMT preparation

Requirements
- At least 17 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Negative drug screen
- Negative tuberculosis test
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
- AEMT applicants must possess current EMT certification
