Hurricane Helene & IV Fluids Information
Healthcare systems nationwide are being impacted by a shortage of IV fluids after Hurricane Helene caused interruptions at a Baxter International plant in North Carolina. In a poll of its provider membership, healthcare group purchasing organization Premier Inc. found 86% are reporting IV fluid shortages directly related to the issue.
Franciscan Alliance is not immune to the challenges. While the North Carolina Baxter plant is now operational again, we understand it will take time to be back to full capacity and shipments. As such, Franciscan’s supply chain professionals are working with vendors while our leadership and medical professionals are taking extra steps to ensure IV fluids are available for patients in need and evaluating other therapies for patients who may benefit from non-IV treatments.
