CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Illinois - Chicago Southland residents are always seeking prompt and reliable care, and more and more of our neighbors are choosing to visit urgent care clinics that offer quality care without appointments and accept most insurance plans. 

In addition to getting immediate care for illnesses and injuries, they're also visiting urgent care clinics for additional services, such as sports physicals and occupational health care.

That's why construction will soon begin on a new Franciscan Health urgent care facility in Chicago Heights.

Scheduled to open in the second half of 2022, the new Franciscan Health Urgent Care will be located on the southwest corner of Lincoln Highway (14th Street) and Otto Boulevard in a modern, free-standing brick, masonry and glass building with accents of metal on the exterior.

"Our goal to continuously expand and improve our quality of care is ongoing. We remain committed to providing the highest level of healthcare to you, your family, your neighbors and friends."

The new facility will replace the existing Franciscan Urgent Care located at 30 East 15th Street in Chicago Heights, which remains open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the project. 

Current plans for the new free-standing facility include 11 exam rooms, a triage room, a procedure room, laboratory space and an imaging/x-ray area in its approximately 10,200 square feet of space. The new facility is easily accessible from all of Chicago Heights, as well as the surrounding communities of Flossmoor, Ford Heights, Glenwood, Park Forest, South Chicago Heights and Steger. 

The fact that Franciscan Health chose to construct it new urgent care facility on the site of the former Chicago Heights hospital campus is no accident.

"Our vision is to deliver high quality healthcare to all of our neighbors in every corner of the Chicago Southland," Spooner said. "At the same time, the Chicago Heights community has been an integral part of the Franciscan Health family since the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration opened St. James Hospital more than a century ago. It's only right and proper that our first, free-standing Franciscan Health urgent care facility is built there."
