Overview
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a level of pre-hospital provider who uses basic medical equipment and basic knowledge and skills to perform initial assessment, basic non-invasive interventions, stabilization, and transport to the ill and injured. It is the goal of our program to provide students with core knowledge, skills, and attitudes to function in the capacity of an EMT. Under the supervision of Franciscan Alliance – Crown Point EMS Academy Medical Directors, EMT's will assess their patients, identify the underlying problem, treat, and stabilize the patient, and transport the patient to the appropriate medical facility.
Successful completion of didactic, practical, clinical, and field portions of the program, evaluated through summative and formative examinations, will have qualified the students to take the State of Indiana or the National Registry Written and Practical Exams for certification as an EMT.
