Overview
The Emergency Paramedic designation is the highest level of pre-hospital certification. This course is designed for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who have the desire to further their education with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care to the critically ill or injured.
The 12-month course begins each year in March & September. The cohort that starts in March, classes typically meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day. The cohort that starts in September, classes typically meet on Mondays and Wednesdays during the day. The program includes classwork and clinical rotations.
This course exceeds Indiana Department of Homeland Security standards.
Accreditation
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) nationally accredits this program. It is eligible for the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs veterans benefits.
Some colleges accept paramedic coursework for credit toward an associate degree program.
Curriculum

- Advanced airway management
- Advanced patient assessment
- Advanced trauma care
- Cardiology
- IV therapy
- Obstetric and pediatric emergencies
- Pharmacology
- Respiratory emergencies
- Team leadership
- ACLS, ITLS, PALS
Clinical rotations include:
- Ambulance rotations in urban and rural settings
- Cardiac care unit
- Catheterization lab
- Emergency department
- ICU and NICU
- Labor and delivery
- Pediatrics
- Respiratory care
- Spiritual care
- Surgery
Requirements
All applicants must take part in a competitive selection process. Requirements include:
- High school diploma or GED
- Indiana EMT or Advanced EMT certification
- Government-issued ID
- Immunization records
- Satisfactory background check
- Drug screening passed

Application Process
Cost
Tuition for the 2026-2027 Fall Paramedic Program is $8060. It covers the cost of textbooks, one uniform shirt, online resources, classroom instruction, lab equipment and supplies, and the ID badge. The cost of the background check and drug screen will be credited back to the student in their first tuition invoice. Tuition is paid in installments, and the student may choose from a few options for the frequency of payments.
Costs not included in tuition are:
- $50 application fee
- $48 background check (credited back if accepted into the program)
- $38 drug screen (credited back if accepted into the program)
- Additional uniform items, including clinical scrubs
Application for the Spring 2027-2028 program will be available in October.
