AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring

Overview

This one-day course expands on the knowledge and principles presented in the AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring course. It uses a case study approach to analyze complicated fetal heart tracing and characteristics.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation has accredited AWHONN as a provider of continuing nursing education. AWHONN also holds a California BRN number California CNE provider # CEP580. Accredited status does not imply AWHONN or ANCC endorsement of any commercial products displayed or discussed in conjunction with an activity.

Professional Education Services Group manages the continuing nursing and medical education credit. It is available via the AWHONN online CNE/CME system.

Franciscan Health is accredited by the Indiana State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The planning committee members and faculty have declared no conflict of interest in providing these programs. The criteria for successful completion of the program include time in attendance at the event and evaluation completion.

  • Advanced principles of maternal-fetal physiology
  • Optional online post-test

We highly recommend "Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles & Practices" as a reference for course preparation.


Requirements

Ideally, the applicant should have completed the AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring course, a comparable fetal heart monitoring workshop and/or certification in fetal heart monitoring. We also strongly encourage participants to have at least one year of fetal monitoring experience.
